Temple of Castor AND Pollux
(Then AND Now)
I remember being just a teenager staring at these three columns having absolutely no idea what they were. Furthermore I had no way of finding out what they were.
Someone told me once that with the internet questions are obsolete. Learning that this is all that remains of the Temple of Castor & Pollux built in 495BC (making it older than anything else I’ve posted on this trip) was much easier to do than to locate where I was when I took this picture. I knew the Temple of Castor & Pollux was in the Forum and I knew I didn’t visit the Forum in 1990 because it was too expensive for me then. Therefore I must have been standing outside the Forum on the street but 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦? This morning I walked the whole parameter of the Forum and when I found the spot it was only a half a block from where I started. But it was a wonderful walk anyway, a dewy morning and by doing so I got to see the Circus Maximus too. The repair work in white was done in 1760, thanks to their efforts these three columns still stand.
